Various Verses–Fruit of the Spirit Love Played Out in Our Lives

In America, the word Love is so overused that we can lose sight of its import to our lives.  As a fruit of the Spirit, Love is the single most important fruit that we can display.  Paul made it clear in 1 Corinthians 13 that we cannot worship, serve, or give without Love.  Those intimate acts done apart from love are worthless and useless,  God’s word also reminds us throughout that we are to live a life filled with Love for God and for others.  Love must be the binder that holds our lives and our ministry together.

We love because God first loved us.  It is not some trait we make up or develop.  We simply need to model the behavior God modeled for us.  When we look at how God did that, We see Hs plan after the fall.  His continued patience with men, despite their sinful lives.  His building of Israel as a people despite their constant rebellion and disregard for Him.  His love of David despite his many failings.  We have a great picture of what love looks like. The clearest, however, is Christ’s sacrifice for us.  That single act restored our ability to love as God has loved us.

We need to walk in that selfless and sacrificial mindset as we live a life of love.  We understand that people will disappoint us, and we will disappoint others.  Still even in that, Love will cover a multitude of sin.  If we will trust and follow God, He Himself will perfect a life of love within us.  We can love and praise God for all He accomplishes in our lives; and we can love others knowing it is the greatest way to show the fruit of God’s Spirit inn our lives!

God Bless You

1 Corinthians 13:1-4–If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.

2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.

Then you will win favor and a good name
