Isaiah 41 Part 2–The Chosen Need Not Fear!

Isaiah is clear, God WILL uphold Israel.  No matter which enemy, no matter which age–Israel is still, and will always be, God’s chosen people.  Additionally, those who are in relationship with God through faith in Christ are also God’s chosen.  Isaiah makes the pronouncement that the chosen of God need not fear–He will uphold and defend them and their name until the end of time.

There have been so many cultures and people groups that have sought to eradicate God and His chosen from the face of the earth.  They have persecuted, martyred, and sought to destroy all evidence of God’s existence and impact on men’s lives.  Yet, as of 2020, they have failed repeatedly.  Oh, make no mistake, every resource has been leveraged.  Every attempt has been made. Armies, legislatures, congresses, parliamentary bodies, judicial bodies, evil empires, and tyrannical regimes have, in succession done their part to wipe the planet clean of God and His people.

The Great news is they have all failed–because, as Isaiah so articulately explains, God has committed to our protection and provision.  God can raise and destroy empires in an instant–Ask the Assyrians, the Babylonians, the Persians, the Greeks, the Romans, the Byzantines…Still, God calls His people to pray without ceasing.  He calls us to walk humbly and live holy lives.  He accepts us for who we are; but, calls us to become like Jesus.  In that process, though, He never abandons His beloved.  We must trust Him at His word. Walk as one that is bought with a price.

The world can continue to spew its hate and attempt to take God out of the picture, but, as has always been the case–the world will fail.  The created will never outsmart the creator. He has always been, is and will always be.  Conversely, those that would defeat the Lord are here for an instant and then disappear into obscurity.  We,God’s chosen, need to cling to His promise and walk in His way to enjoy the peace, protection, and provision He longs for us to enjoy.

God Bless You

But you, Israel, my servant,
    Jacob, whom I have chosen,
    the offspring of Abraham, my friend;
you whom I took from the ends of the earth,
    and called from its farthest corners,
saying to you, “You are my servant,
    I have chosen you and not cast you off”;
10 fear not, for I am with you;
    be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

11 Behold, all who are incensed against you
    shall be put to shame and confounded;
those who strive against you
    shall be as nothing and shall perish.
12 You shall seek those who contend with you,
    but you shall not find them;
those who war against you
    shall be as nothing at all.
13 For I, the Lord your God,
    hold your right hand;
it is I who say to you, “Fear not,
    I am the one who helps you.”

14 Fear not, you worm Jacob,
    you men of Israel!
I am the one who helps you, declares the Lord;
    your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.
15 Behold, I make of you a threshing sledge,
    new, sharp, and having teeth;
you shall thresh the mountains and crush them,
    and you shall make the hills like chaff;
16 you shall winnow them, and the wind shall carry them away,
    and the tempest shall scatter them.
And you shall rejoice in the Lord;
    in the Holy One of Israel you shall glory.

Saving the Best for Last–Genesis 1 Final

After doing all the preparation, God finished out creation by filling his lush and beautiful earth with animals.  It must have been beautiful.  The glorious skies pure and pristine–filled with birds of all colors and sizes, oceans and lakes teaming with some of the most amazing creatures and now God filled the land with amazing animals and finally, the guest of honor…Man.

Say what you will, but this was a gift for us.  We were given dominion over the earth and all the wonderful things it contains.  If we were not so stinking sinful, selfish and stingy, we could have enjoyed a lifetime of beauty and splendor.  We still are called to be good stewards of this gift, BUT, we were never called to worship the created earth! We were, are and always will be called to worship its amazing creator!!!

If we could ever grasp that the wonder is not the universe, but, its designer, implementer and caretaker; then we would not only adore this creation, but we would be free to celebrate it as a great gift and be free in God’s presence to trust, follow and watch him do miraculous things in our lives.

Remember at the beginning of that week, the earth was without form and darkness loomed over the face of the earth–BUT THEN, God said let their be light, AND THERE WAS–and he can do it again today! Join me in prayer to ask him to bring light back to the world, our country, our churches and our spirits!

God Bless You

Then God said, “Let the earth produce every sort of animal, each producing offspring of the same kind—livestock, small animals that scurry along the ground, and wild animals.” And that is what happened. 25 God made all sorts of wild animals, livestock, and small animals, each able to produce offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good.

26 Then God said, “Let us make human beings[b] in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth,[c] and the small animals that scurry along the ground.”

27 So God created human beings[d] in his own image.
    In the image of God he created them;
    male and female he created them.

28 Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.”

29 Then God said, “Look! I have given you every seed-bearing plant throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food. 30 And I have given every green plant as food for all the wild animals, the birds in the sky, and the small animals that scurry along the ground—everything that has life.” And that is what happened.

31 Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good!

And evening passed and morning came, marking the sixth day.

Execution and Preparation–Genesis 1 Continued

The beautiful artistry of God was not done randomly nor was it done as an end to itself.  Day four and five of creation revealed God’s purpose and preparation. He created the sun, moon and stars to be lights, to be placeholders and to mark important events like the seasons.  He then filled the earth with animals like fish in the sea and birds in the air, each population to be a part of the workings of his plan.  The joy of day six

It is amazing How God not only works his plan but delights in putting it together.  He does that in our lives as well.  He knows what is planned for us and has since the beginning.  He wants us to be prepared for the life he has set out for us.  He intends to spend an eternity with us and wants us to be ready to receive all that is in store.  He cares for our lives as much as he cared for the creation.  That is pretty amazing!

God Bless You

Then God said, “Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them be signs to mark the seasons, days, and years. 15 Let these lights in the sky shine down on the earth.” And that is what happened. 16 God made two great lights—the larger one to govern the day, and the smaller one to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17 God set these lights in the sky to light the earth, 18 to govern the day and night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.

19 And evening passed and morning came, marking the fourth day.

Then God said, “Let the waters swarm with fish and other life. Let the skies be filled with birds of every kind.” 21 So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that scurries and swarms in the water, and every sort of bird—each producing offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 Then God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply. Let the fish fill the seas, and let the birds multiply on the earth.”

23 And evening passed and morning came, marking the fifth day.

Creating…Genesis 1 Part 3 (Message Bible)

Artists are a thrill to watch.  As they mold, paint, bend and create–the products, much like the treasures from a mighty magician’s hat, confound and amaze us.  So it was with creation. God thought it through!  Light, sky, water, land, plants, crops, and as he imagined–it became. The entire universe–an expanse that we still cannot imagine–set out at the word of the master.

In the midst of the creativity, though, was the infrastructure for his deepest desire–us.  He was not acting as a child blindly finger painting.  He was crafting a place to share with his most beloved creation–man. Creating with purpose was God’s first verse of the most amazing love song ever written.  When we realize that each act was and is done with purpose–then we will be able to rest in his arms and allow him to call the shots.  It will be the greatest show on earth!

Thanks Lord for your creativity and your plan!

God Bless You

Sometimes, we need to sit back and reflect on God’s creative nature and sense of order.  He made things beautiful! We just had peak leaves and man, the reds, yellows and oranges literally bring tears to ones eyes.

God spoke: “Light!”
        And light appeared.
    God saw that light was good
        and separated light from dark.
    God named the light Day,
        he named the dark Night.
    It was evening, it was morning—
    Day One.

6-8 God spoke: “Sky! In the middle of the waters;
        separate water from water!”
    God made sky.
    He separated the water under sky
        from the water above sky.
    And there it was:
        he named sky the Heavens;
    It was evening, it was morning—
    Day Two.

9-10 God spoke: “Separate!
        Water-beneath-Heaven, gather into one place;
    Land, appear!”
        And there it was.
    God named the land Earth.
        He named the pooled water Ocean.
    God saw that it was good.

11-13 God spoke: “Earth, green up! Grow all varieties
        of seed-bearing plants,
    Every sort of fruit-bearing tree.”
        And there it was.
    Earth produced green seed-bearing plants,
        all varieties,
    And fruit-bearing trees of all sorts.
        God saw that it was good.
    It was evening, it was morning—
    Day Three
