It is a great comfort to know we are a new creation in Christ. Our old sinful nature is now under the authority of the Holy Spirit and our sin and past have been erased as if they had never happened. But the ministry of reconciliation performed by Christ was not an end to itself. Instead, Christ gave Himself to restore us as His chosen to become that nation of priests envisioned since the time of Adam and Eve.
God never had a plan B. He was always intent in bringing salvation to all that would believe. So, as His chosen, we are called to be Christ’s ambassadors to the unsaved world. Ambassadors have a very unique role in the world. They are sent to other sovereign nations to represent the nation from which they are chosen. The place they live, “The Embassy” is literally a very small piece of the nation from which the ambassador is sent. So, as the ambassador carries out their duties, they are in a foreign land but not of that foreign land.
As Christ’s ambassadors. we are in the world, but not “Of the world”.(John 15:19). We conduct our daily lives in this chaotic culture without losing focus on the fact that this is not our home. Our goal, like any ambassador, is to represent our sovereign Lord and country. We are to share the love of Christ with any and everyone that will listen, never forgetting that we have been recreated as the face and heart of our Lord.
As daunting as the task may seem, God promises us that He who calls you is faithful, and HE will do it. I Thessalonians 5:24. We therefore are the ministers of reconciliation and provide the truth of Christ to all who will listen. We must simply trust the Lord and proudly live as ambassadors of true freedom and Life in Him!
God Bless You
14 For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. 15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:[a] The old has gone, the new is here! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin[b] for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
