The four spiritual laws, Steps to peace with God, The Circle, the Roman road, and many other iterations have become marketing themes to sell the Gospel to the lost. As God’s Chosen, we have been called to “Go and make disciples of all nations!” Paul was continuing his message to the Corinthians, mainly because the City of Corinth was a city that literally touched the world! As a major port, Corinth was a vital city for Rome and so it was a hub for merchants and sailors from all over the known world.
Knowing this, Paul wanted for the Corinthians to Get it right. So he laid out the Gospel in very simple but life gripping terms:
Christ died for our sin—according tot he scripture
- He was raised on the 3rd day—according to the scripture!
- He met with Peter
- He met with the 12
- He was seen by 500 people all at once and most still alive to testify
- He next met with His Brother James
- Then he met again with the Disciples
- Finally, He met with Paul on the road to Damascus
Jesus was not being surreptitious; He wanted the world to know He paid the price for in and still wanted to be in relationship with us. We are the single most important thing to God the Father. No matter how it is marketed, the bottom line is that God demonstrated His love for us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us! (Romans 5:8)
This Chapter is Paul once again making the main thing the main thing. The enemy and the world would have us be distracted by the noise od “what-ifs” and “can you really proves”… Yes, We can really prove in a court the preponderance of evidence establishes the validity of Christ and His sovereignty as God and His resurrection from the dead.
More importantly, the change and focus of our lives proves that he has made a real and lasting change in our lives some 2000 years later! We must not be fearful or ashamed to share that truth. We must embrace it and shout it from the rooftops!
God Bless You
1 Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance[a]: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas,[b] and then to the Twelve. 6 After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8 and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.
9 For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11 Whether then, it is I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed.
