I Corinthians 2 Part 2–The Mind of Christ!

In John 1, we learn that in the beginning was the Word and the word was with God and the Word was God…In Philippians 2:5-10, we learn that we are to have the same attitude as Christ Jesus, who being in the very nature-GOD!!!, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped.  He therefore EMPTIED himself of himself, (His immortality, His deity, and His eternal presence with God) and became a human.  Then, he humbled himself and became a servant and surrendered to death-even death on a cross.

So, you say why are we talking about this?! The study is about the letters to the Corinthians!!! God has compelled me to remember the lofty gift and the great responsibility we undertake as His chosen.  We are given the gift of redemption and restoration through the Holy Spirit.  Additionally, we are no longer subject to the chaotic confusion of the world’s shouts of indignation and irreverence aimed at our Lord and His church.

We are able, through the Holy Spirit, to see the world as our Heavenly Father sees it.  That should bring us a mixture of awe, humility and urgency; as we see the depth of loss and separation.  I always had a cocky attitude about somehow being better than the world.  What a mistake.

I now have realized that was not the mind of Christ! His mind only saw the need for redemption, the love for His own, and the humility and willingness to sacrifice all that was meaningful to him to bring home what the enemy had taken.

Paul tells us we have the mind of Christ! Do You? Are you willing to empty yourself and lay all on the alter for the cause of Christ? Abraham was, and it was credited to Abraham as righteousness! If we are willing to become a servant and become obedient to death even death on a cross, then we will truly have the mind of Christ!

My life mentor, Kim Parrish, always asked me (in our JEDI and Padawan moments), Smitty, is Jesus Christ enough? I must confess that I was not always able to answer that question yes.  If we are honest, that is a difficult place. Still, at 60 with a beautiful bride of 30 years, 4 great kids, and 3 beautiful grands, I can honestly say that Jesus Christ is enough. in fact, He is more than enough…He is all.  In that life, we can truly have the mind of Christ!

Gid Bless You

10 these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.

The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 11 For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. 13 This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.[c] 14 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. 15 The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, 16 for,
