Remembering that God is a triune God–Father, Son, and Spirit; we talk of the Fruit of the Spirit as glimpses of God in us. We often forget that God Himself displays Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self-control. He has shown those traits throughout the Bible. In all walks of life, in both old and new testaments, and in all races, genders, economic statuses, and nationalities; God has demonstrated these attributes throughout time.
We, as God’s chosen, are simply called to reflect the God we serve. Kindness is a wonderful reflection of who God is and what our Lord expects from those called by His name. The world and its culture preach inclusiveness and unification. Unfortunately, the world expects that everyone be willing to live independently of God and do things in a manner the world deems appropriate. Failure to do that leaves no choice other than complete rejection and vilification.
God, conversely, accepts people for whom they are, and transforms them into His image. He is patient, and kind. He is a God of a second chance, third, fourth, etc. He forgets what is behind and presses on toward what is ahead. He provides leadership, preparation, protection, and provision for all that seek Him.
As God’s people, we are simply asked to provide the same traits. Kindness to others can act as a balm to the most grievous of wounds. When we come upon those who need His touch, we are to be His hands and kindly gather up those who need Him. We are to be different from the world and in our kindness, show the world who God really is. We do not have to accept sin; we do not have to call wrong right. We do have to separate the sin from the sinner and realize that there but by the grace of God we stand.
Kindness is never the wrong answer. We can stand firm and be kind. Infact, we will do more to show the world the true nature of God by kindly standing for what is right. Solomon said it best, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not lean on your own understanding. Acknowledge God in all your ways, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
