Psalm 28-The Magnificence of God

I can almost picture David sitting and looking out over a stormy sunset as he wrote this amazing tribute to the magnificence of our Lord.  Few have seen God the way David saw Him.  God took David to heights unmatched by other men of God.  He walked with David through depths of pain, fear, and sorrow that few kings had to experience.

God proved Himself worthy in every scenario imaginable.  Additionally, David saw God in the glory of nature.  One can easily take for granted the power of our Lord in the daily sunrise or flashes of thunder.  This song is a great reminder of how amazing our God is, and how we, as His chosen, should honor and respect His name.

To simply reverence God’s power as He makes all creation shine will bring a peace and joy to our lives.  When we see the Lord’s glory in the sunrise or His span of control as we look at the stars; it gives us back the faith and perspective to know God is truly in control.  David’s song brings back that perspective to our busy lives.  It gives us hope in trials and peace in the chaos that fills our days.

God Bless You

    honor the Lord for his glory and strength.
Honor the Lord for the glory of his name.
    Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.

The voice of the Lord echoes above the sea.
    The God of glory thunders.
    The Lord thunders over the mighty sea.
The voice of the Lord is powerful;
    the voice of the Lord is majestic.
The voice of the Lord splits the mighty cedars;
    the Lord shatters the cedars of Lebanon.
He makes Lebanon’s mountains skip like a calf;
    he makes Mount Hermon[b] leap like a young wild ox.
The voice of the Lord strikes
    with bolts of lightning.
The voice of the Lord makes the barren wilderness quake;
    the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.
The voice of the Lord twists mighty oaks[c]
    and strips the forests bare.
In his Temple everyone shouts, “Glory!”

10 The Lord rules over the floodwaters.
    The Lord reigns as king forever.
11 The Lord gives his people strength.
    The Lord blesses them with peace.
