There simply is no wrong way to say it. The Lord is my Shepherd–My needs are met. Jehovah Jireh, God my Provider, there is no other source of provision that is more personal or more perfect than God. As the Creator, no one can understand what makes His creation thrive any better than the Lord.
Each of us, as His chosen seem to go to great lengths to assist and direct Him to meet our needs. We are never short of suggestions on what, where, and when things should happen to complete us. David understood that that was not the way, instead, we need to follow the Shepherd’s lead.
The Shepherd provides us lush meadows–not dried out straw. He provides calm and gentle springs, not brackish or algae ridden water nor he lead us to a raging, dangerous rushing river. The Shepherd restores our soul and spirit; He does not tax it nor vex it. The Shepherd provides a “Freaking Feast” for us while our enemies get ramen noodles. He anoints us while the rest are smelly and parched.
God’s provision is finely tuned to our exact needs and path. We will never out guess the Lord nor will we contrive a better plan. Knowing that, we need simply to listen to His voice and follow His leadership. If we will, “Surely goodness and mercy will follow us ALL the days of our lives!”
What a great Provider and what a great Shepherd!
God Bless You
The Lord is my shepherd;
I have all that I need.
2 He lets me rest in green meadows;
he leads me beside peaceful streams.
3 He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths,
bringing honor to his name.
4 Even when I walk
through the darkest valley,[a]
I will not be afraid,
for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff
protect and comfort me.
5 You prepare a feast for me
in the presence of my enemies.
You honor me by anointing my head with oil.
My cup overflows with blessings.
6 Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me
all the days of my life,
and I will live in the house of the Lord
forever.
