It was a hard 40 days for Moses. He fasted and sat in God’s presence redoing the tablets and preparing again to lead the people to the promised Land. When Moses returned, He was radiant wit God’s glory. He was so obviously changed that it caused the people to fear Him.
Moses assured them and set them down and shared all that God shared with him. From that time forward, Moses remained veiled except when he was in God’s presence. Then Moses would return, and the people would see His radiant face and know he had been in God’s presence. After he would convey God’s message, he would replace the veil until the next time He was in God’s presence. There was never a doubt that Moses and God were together.
One cannot be in God’s presence and not be changed. When we start a relationship with God, We are also changed. In 2 Corinthians 5:17, Paul tells us, “If anyone is in Christ, He is a new creation. The old is gone and the new has come.”
As with Moses, God’s spirit indwells us, and we begin a journey of transformation that carries on until His return. While we do not become perfect, we do become different as was Moses. His impact on our lives should be noticeable. As we go through our day, we should strive to radiate God’s presence in our lives. We do not need to veil that presence; we need to allow God to shine. Jesus said it best, “Let your light shine before men so that they can see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven.” Matthew 5:16.
God Bless You
27 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write down these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.” 28 Moses was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant—the Ten Commandments.
The Radiant Face of Moses
29 When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the Lord. 30 When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, his face was radiant, and they were afraid to come near him. 31 But Moses called to them; so Aaron and all the leaders of the community came back to him, and he spoke to them. 32 Afterward all the Israelites came near him, and he gave them all the commands the Lord had given him on Mount Sinai.
33 When Moses finished speaking to them, he put a veil over his face. 34 But whenever he entered the Lord’s presence to speak with him, he removed the veil until he came out. And when he came out and told the Israelites what he had been commanded, 35 they saw that his face was radiant. Then Moses would put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with the Lord.
