2 Peter 1 Part 1–Walk Equipped to Live a Great Life

As Peter opens his second letter, he opens with very practical instruction. Employ the right tools to walk with the Lord.  Peter declared that walking with God helps His chosen to avoid the chaos of the world and its culture.  So, having decided to walk with the Lord, one should add goodness to their faith–be better in your attitude and actions than the world expects. then add knowledge–know why you believe what you believe, ground yourself in the word and the teachings of those God uses to lead.  Couple the actions and knowledge with self -control and discipline so that you will be consistent in your walk with the Lord. Peter then calls Christians to persevere. In the midst of the perseverance, add Godliness and love for one another. Then one has the whole package to live like Christ, walk with Him, and minister to those that need Him.

Conversely, if Christians walk like the rest of the world, they miss out on the blessings, the growth, and the power to following him daily.  It is tantamount to standing in the midst of the seven wonders of the world; but, being so nearsighted that you cannot see anything.  Peter is concerned to see the Church miss the blessings that rest right in front of them.  So, Peter emplores the church to walk prepared for life and embrace all that Christ offers to lead His Chosen through this Amazing Journey.

God Bless You

Simon Peter, a servant, and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours: 2  Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.

Make Your Calling and Election Sure

3  His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4  Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

5  For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6  and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7  and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8  For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9  But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins. 10  Therefore, my brothers and sisters,[1] make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, 11  and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
