Matthew 4 Part 2–Let Ministry Begin

After Jesus had finished the testing and preparation in the wilderness, He knew it was time to start his ministry. John the Baptist called Herod out, and was arrested for it. Now, Jesus went back to Nazareth and Galilee where He began the start of His ministry.  Jesus ministry was to be three fold; 1. Teach the World the truth about God. 2. Show the World how to live and love God and 3. Save the world from its sin.

To carry out the mission, Jesus picked a place to start, selected disciples to assist, and started simply doing and being who he was. It is clear that Andrew, Peter, James and John had an interest in Jesus and his life. So when he called them, they followed immediately.

Little did they know that they signed up for one of the most amazing journeys in history. These fishermen had no idea that in the coming days they would actually meet and befriend the Son of God! It is also clear that they had no idea that this friendship would be a life commitment that would transform them into spiritual superstars.

Once he had his guys, Jesus set out telling any and everyone that would listen about God and His true nature. In the process, he healed the sick, raised the dead, and brought sight to the blind. There was no life too small; no miracle too menial, for Jesus to do.

That is still the mission. Jesus is still teaching the world who God is, how we should live, and Jesus is still doing and being who He is.  We are His disciples, we learn from His teaching, and we walk through our life–mirroring His life and His ministry. Now, 2000 years later, He is still changing lives as dramatically as he did in Israel–I am certainly humbed to be one of them.

God Bless You

When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he withdrew to Galilee. 13 Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali— 14 to fulfill what was said through the prophet Isaiah:

15 “Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali,
the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan,
    Galilee of the Gentiles—
16 the people living in darkness
    have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the shadow of death
    a light has dawned.”[f]

17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

Jesus Calls His First Disciples

18 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 20 At once they left their nets and followed him.

21 Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, 22 and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.

Jesus Heals the Sick

23 Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people. 24 News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed; and he healed them. 25 Large crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis,[g] Jerusalem, Judea and the region across the Jordan followed him.

This is an amazing Journey. I hope you will hear from the Lord, as you seek Him with your heart. Matthew 6:33
