It is the idea, that someone who has known you from the beginning of time–loves you unconditionally and completely; that moved David. In this psalm, he is expressing his amazement and grateful heart that the Creator who literally made time–has had His eye on the shepherd king from conception.  God knew everything about David from the beginning of time.

David was not the greatest King in Israel by chance–he was part of God’s plan from the creation and remained so throughout his life–ultimately becoming the patriarch for the lineage of Jesus.  In this psalm, he reminds us that God was not surprised by David. What’s more, God created David especially to be a part of His plan–David was wonderfully and marvelously made by God to be a part of that plan.

In our world, the same continues to hold true.  We are told by the culture that much of who we are–is simply left to chance.  There is some direction, but much of life is a series of coincidences and lucky or unlucky turns.  We need to understand, that like David, we are wonderfully and marvelously made by God. We are created for a purpose; and as we trust God and follow him, that purpose is completed in us. As a part of Good’s plan, we can have an actual and real impact on the world.

We must never lose sight of the fact that God is in charge, and He has also known us from the beginning, and he loves us unconditionally.  If we would submit to God’s leadership and follow His plan, then He will do amazing things in and through our lives. We simply need to humble ourselves and trust that His ways are greater than our ways.

God Bless You

You have searched me, Lord,

    and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise;
    you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down;
    you are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue
    you, Lord, know it completely.
You hem me in behind and before,
    and you lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
    too lofty for me to attain.

Where can I go from your Spirit?

    Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
    if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
    if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10 even there your hand will guide me,
    your right hand will hold me fast…

13 For you created my inmost being;

    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made

    your works are wonderful,

    I know that full well.

15 My frame was not hidden from you

    when I was made in the secret place,

    when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.

16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;

    all the days ordained for me were written in your book

    before one of them came to be.
