Psalm 119 Part 2–Google Maps for the Soul…

What should I do, which way should I go? The countless times we face difficult decisions in our lives drive us to desperation and fear. It is like driving in a huge city where you have never been–without Google Maps! You feel lost–even if you are headed in the right direction.

God’s word, according to King David, literally, opens our eyes to the major turns and signals life provides.  We can rely on him to lead us the most efficient way through the twists, turns, detours and disasters of life.  In addition, as we study his word, we also see the futility in allowing the events of life ruin our joy. David had some very difficult events–some he caused, some others caused. Yet, at the end of the day, God guided him through  to a rich and meaningful reign.

We are not exempt! Not exempt from struggles, from sin, from confusion or even from death. But, as any great king, if we learn to trust the truth of God’s word, even when the world calls it a lie, then–we too can find our way through the treacherous and confusing path of life.  What’s more, like the road signs on the highway, God’s word reminds us that this is in fact the journey–NOT, the destination! Paul said it best, “ But our citizenship is in heaven. And, we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ!” Philippians 3:21

It is an Amazing Journey–allow God’s word to guide you!

God Bless You

Be good to your servant while I live,
    that I may obey your word.
18 Open my eyes that I may see
    wonderful things in your law.
19 I am a stranger on earth;
    do not hide your commands from me.
20 My soul is consumed with longing
    for your laws at all times.
21 You rebuke the arrogant, who are accursed,
    those who stray from your commands.
22 Remove from me their scorn and contempt,
    for I keep your statutes.
23 Though rulers sit together and slander me,
    your servant will meditate on your decrees.
24 Your statutes are my delight;
    they are my counselors…

Teach me, Lord, the way of your decrees,
    that I may follow it to the end.[b]
34 Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law
    and obey it with all my heart.
35 Direct me in the path of your commands,
    for there I find delight.
36 Turn my heart toward your statutes
    and not toward selfish gain.
37 Turn my eyes away from worthless things;
    preserve my life according to your word.[c]
38 Fulfill your promise to your servant,
    so that you may be feared.
39 Take away the disgrace I dread,
    for your laws are good.
40 How I long for your precepts!
    In your righteousness preserve my life
