Psalm 105–God, the Promise Keeper

There are so many reasons to praise God.  He is an amazing creator, A loving Father, a mighty warrior and a just, yet merciful King. The attribute of God that the psalmist highlights today is God’s desire to keep his promises.  Oh, that his creations were as steadfast in  their desire to keep their promises.  God considers his name and word as invaluable.  He is, therefore, committed to honoring his promises even when others do not.

Israel was in the desert for 40 years because the people refused to trust God to deliver the Land to them. Yet, it was always God’s plan to keep his word. So, as Joshua led a new generation of free people across the Jordan–he did so with confidence, as he had seen God deliver day after day, and event after event.

David also readily marched toward Goliath–because he knew His God would deliver his enemy into David’s hand. That same confidence followed him into countless battles and trials throughout David’s reign. The prophet Elijah poured countless gallons of water over his sacrifice on Mount Carmel–because he knew God would uphold his name.Nothing would stop God from taking the Sacrifice offered in faith–a faith  that would change the nation.

God’s people always shine,when they are willing to trust him and follow him into the breach–God is relentless in Keeping his word.  Let us, in this time when God’s name is being minimized and marginalized, simply remember that our God  keeps his covenants for a thousand generations! Do not walk in fear–WALK IN POWER-knowing he is GOD! He will honor his name–no matter what the circumstance! Help me, Lord to walk into battle with the same faith as the psalmist–knowing that you will keep your promises!!!!!

God Bless You

Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;
    make known among the nations what he has done.
Sing to him, sing praise to him;
    tell of all his wonderful acts.
Glory in his holy name;
    let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.
Look to the Lord and his strength;
    seek his face always.

Remember the wonders he has done,
    his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,
you his servants, the descendants of Abraham,
    his chosen ones, the children of Jacob.
He is the Lord our God;
    his judgments are in all the earth.

He remembers his covenant forever,
    the promise he made, for a thousand generations,
the covenant he made with Abraham,
    the oath he swore to Isaac.
10 He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree,
    to Israel as an everlasting covenant:
11 “To you I will give the land of Canaan
    as the portion you will inherit.”
