It would be great to be David! God was his biggest cheerleader and support. He loved David’s heart as a boy and transformed his life and lineage to be eternal. David was by far the greatest King that Israel ever knew. As a teenager, it never dawned upon David to trust anyone other than God for his life or safety. He confidently fought bears, lions and giants with no regard to hismself–simply because he knew God was with him.
He also was anointed King of Israel, as a boy; and for the next several years he was pronounced a fugitive from justice. He was hated by the current King, hunted by Saul’s army and left seemingly, alone and with no support–Still, he knew God was with Him.
Finally, He was made King. He unified his nation, established peace for the first time in years and embraced his call to lead–God was there! Then sin and life tried to tear him and the kingdom apart. He still faced it; holding God’s promise in his heart. He trusted and followed God even in the dark times; he trusted God all the days of his life.
We are adopted into that lineage through our Lord and Savior. He wants us to walk in the same faith as David walked. In both great and terrible circumstances–he calls us to be people after his own heart. He will bless and honor such a commitment; both in this life and in eternity. We are not called to be perfect–clearly David was not perfect. We are simply called to believe in him and to trust him. It will transform us into his image and give us a full and meaningful life on Earth and a great life for eternity .
God Bless You
Once you spoke in a vision,
to your faithful people you said:
“I have bestowed strength on a warrior;
I have raised up a young man from among the people.
20 I have found David my servant;
with my sacred oil I have anointed him.
21 My hand will sustain him;
surely my arm will strengthen him.
22 The enemy will not get the better of him;
the wicked will not oppress him.
23 I will crush his foes before him
and strike down his adversaries.
24 My faithful love will be with him,
and through my name his horn will be exalted.
25 I will set his hand over the sea,
his right hand over the rivers.
26 He will call out to me, ‘You are my Father,
my God, the Rock my Savior.’
27 And I will appoint him to be my firstborn,
the most exalted of the kings of the earth.
28 I will maintain my love to him forever,
and my covenant with him will never fail.
29 I will establish his line forever,
his throne as long as the heavens endure.
