The most intimate name of God, for those who follow him, is the name “Abba”. Abba–Father, brings home the focus of God’s divine nature.  As we read scripture, we often scratch our heads, wondering why God continues to put up with the Israelites, the kings, the disciples and people in general.  The answer is best found in his name, Abba.

Dad’s love their kids. In fact, those of us who are fathers–and now grandfathers, especially identify with the unconditional love we have for our children.  As parents–we raise them, and as they grow, they say and do things that absolutely infuriate and break our hearts, but, there is never a question of whether or not we love them–it is absolute. We would truly do anything, sacrifice everything and make ourselves nothing–in order to see our kids thrive and succeed.

How much more, then, would the all powerful, all knowing Creator and Master of the universe show that unconditional love to his chosen–his adopted kids. He created an amazing home, he gave us power and dominion over the rest of the earth and all it contained.  He has patiently born the anger and grief of generations of those children rejecting him and destroying their lives–and still, he demonstrated his love for us–in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).

His love for us is not distant or aloof. No, instead, his word tells us that if we delight ourselves in him, he will give us the desires of our heart! (Psalms 37:4) Who does that sound like???  In Lamentations 3, we learn that His steadfast love never ceases his mercy never comes to an end! That is a love that is real, personal and truly intimate–That is a love that comes from our Heavenly Father–I love you, Dad!

God Bless You
