The Names of God–Exodus 3

Names are amazing things–they identify, they individualize and they start a process for folks to know one another.  As his chosen, we want more than anything to know our God. What better way to start to get to know him–than to know his name.

Moses, was born, raised and trained by God to lead Israel from slavery to freedom. When God called Moses to start his mission, Moses was rightfully concerned about how he would be received by the people of Israel.  So, Moses asked God–When the people ask me; what shall I tell them your name is? “I Am Who I Am!” God responded. (Exodus 3:14)

God’s name speaks volumes! First, God IS! He has always been around and will always be around…BUT-God is OMNI-present–He is unaffected by time or place. he is in all places and times at once.  So, God always IS! He is neither surprised nor affected by the things we consider history or unknowns.  He knew them from the start.  In any time or in any place, God has a complete understanding and grasp on circumstances and has them well in hand.

God IS.  So when life throws us curves–He IS aware and He will meet our needs.  We may not know how he is going to do it, but, we know I AM is who he is and will do what his plan calls for him to do in our lives and the lives of others. What a great way to introduce the one force in our lives that loves us, and will always care for our well being.

God Bless You

Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?”

14 God said to Moses, “I am who I am.[c] This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’”

15 God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The Lord,[d] the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’

“This is my name forever,
the name you shall call me
    from generation to generation.

This is an amazing Journey. I hope you will hear from the Lord, as you seek Him with your heart. Matthew 6:33
