You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. 2 For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. 3 They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. 4 They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. 5 They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!
Some things never change. Paul told Timothy that in the last days there would be very difficult times. The centerpiece of the difficulty was the selfish nature of people. From the time of Adam and Eve, people have been controlled by their selfish nature. No matter the age–the symptoms lead to dissension, distrust and utter anarchy. In his day, he said that people would be cold and cruel.they would hold nothing sacred and literally hate that which is good…sound familiar?
I have been asked for years, are we in the last days…My answer, “I sure hope so!” To experience the filthy, godlessness of our culture is almost unbearable. As we raise our kids to be kind, selfless and full of integrity; they simply are bombarded with countless influences to say the opposite. School, media, friends all have bought into the most basic survival attitude that says all interest other than mine are secondary. So, as we raise the next generation, there has to be a consistent message and lifestyle to raise our children and grandchildren in the way they should go–so that when they are old (Like Me) they won’t depart far from it. Otherwise, the day will come when God’s influence will be neutralized and the world will be completely as it was in the days of Noah. People are a horrible lot–we need to be better, different and committed to changing the world–one life at a time.
God Bless You
