After Noah, God changed everything. Once he and his family left the Ark, God changed the relationship between men and animals. Men moved from the caretaker of the animals to the ruler of the animals. God made it clear, that men could eat meat. He only required that the blood be drained out. In addition, he told Noah and his sons that human life was precious. He put a sense of dread over the animals so as to make them fearful of men. In addition, he made sure that Noah and his family were clear that taking a human life–any human life, would exact a great price. God wanted men to know that among men and animals, all lives mattered.
Nothing has changed from God’s perspective. in his realm, all men will give an account when they take a human life. God always has considered us a precious treasure in creation. Sadly, we have so devalued life, that death barely raises an eyebrow in our culture. We have been exposed to so much death through news and entertainment, that we have lost the sense of importance for life. That is why we, as his chosen, must be advocates for life. We cannot look the other way when people openly devalue the lives of anyone not convenient for their own plans. Abortion, euthanasia, violence in the streets are all vestiges of a bigger problem–disregard for life. God calls us to be different, to be selfless. He asks his own to value the precious treasure that life really is!
God Bless You
Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth. 2 The fear and dread of you will fall on all the beasts of the earth, and on all the birds in the sky, on every creature that moves along the ground, and on all the fish in the sea; they are given into your hands. 3 Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.4 “But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it. 5 And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each human being, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of another human being.
6 “Whoever sheds human blood,
by humans shall their blood be shed;
for in the image of God
has God made mankind.
7 As for you, be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it.”
