This Christianity Stuff is a Riot!–Acts 19 Part 3

There is no doubt, but that the greater the impact Christ has on a community, the greater the opposition will try to destroy the momentum.  In Ephesus, The Church was growing and having an amazing impact.  Lives were being changed and the community was truly transforming for the better.  But, as is often the case, those that led the worship of idols as well as those that profited from the worship of idols were seeing a dramatic drop in revenues.  They were unhappy to see the people change, they felt slighted because they were exposed as false prophets and they were feeling the crunch of offering and Idol worship recession.  So they did what any self-respecting enemy of God would do…They started a riot.
The riot raised the frenzy to such a peak in the city that they filled the coliseum.  They arrested Christian leaders and planned to kill them.  But, God used an unlikely group of local leaders to quell the riot and save the day.  This was notice, however, that the battle would not end.  The enemy was now set to do whatever to disrupt God’s impact on the World.
The war continues to rage today.  Around the world, Christianity is being persecuted and discredited at every turn.  America, “One Nation under God” is under continued attack to destroy the church, devalue life and dissolve the traditional family. It has risen to such a crescendo–that the world is in a state of utter chaos.  In the midst of the Chaos,  it is the church that still has the ability to make a difference.  If we will pursue God with the same intensity and commitment as our enemy pursues our destruction, then the Lord will bring revival as he did in Ephesus.
It seems impossible, but, when things are impossible for men–that is when God does his best work! Please, join me in praying and seeking revival in your community!
God Bless You
About that time there arose a great disturbance about the Way. 24 A silversmith named Demetrius, who made silver shrines of Artemis, brought in a lot of business for the craftsmen there. 25 He called them together, along with the workers in related trades, and said: “You know, my friends, that we receive a good income from this business. 26 And you see and hear how this fellow Paul has convinced and led astray large numbers of people here in Ephesus and in practically the whole province of Asia. He says that gods made by human hands are no gods at all. 27 There is danger not only that our trade will lose its good name, but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis will be discredited; and the goddess herself, who is worshiped throughout the province of Asia and the world, will be robbed of her divine majesty.”28 When they heard this, they were furious and began shouting: “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!” 29 Soon the whole city was in an uproar. The people seized Gaius and Aristarchus, Paul’s traveling companions from Macedonia, and all of them rushed into the theater together. 30 Paul wanted to appear before the crowd, but the disciples would not let him. 31 Even some of the officials of the province, friends of Paul, sent him a message begging him not to venture into the theater.
