Integrity is the Key–Proverbs 11 Part 1

It is not only God that blesses and admires a righteousness life. Communities and the people that one values most are the ones that are blessed by righteousness. People truly admire the upright and the honest.  Our culture teaches and tries to demean the idea that people that are virtuous  truly succeed and bring up those around them. But, one need only think of the people that have greatly influenced their lives, to remember it was their Character—not their accomplishments that changed their words.

As one looks at their the character of influential people, they see honesty, selflessness, kindness, true compassion and the ability to bring those around them up to God’s standard, rather than allow the world to lower them to its standard.  The ability to stand apart without an air of judgement is both uplifting and life changing.  If we, as a church, would champion God’s model for life—and not cower to the world’s pressure, then we too would be heroes in our community and could truly change the world.

God Bless You

The Lord detests dishonest scales,     but accurate weights find favor with him.

When pride comes, then comes disgrace,     but with humility comes wisdom.

The integrity of the upright guides them,     but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.

Wealth is worthless in the day of wrath,     but righteousness delivers from death.

The righteousness of the blameless makes their paths straight,     but the wicked are brought down by their own wickedness.

The righteousness of the upright delivers them,     but the unfaithful are trapped by evil desires.

Hopes placed in mortals die with them;     all the promise of their power comes to nothing.

The righteous person is rescued from trouble,     and it falls on the wicked instead.

With their mouths the godless destroy their neighbors,     but through knowledge the righteous escape.

10 When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices;     when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy.

11 Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted,     but by the mouth of the wicked it is destroyed
