Teaching the Wise and The Foolish–Proverbs 9 Part 1

History and the media bear out one great truth—those who are unwise, profane and ungodly are not only ignorant to the teachings of God ad its wisdom, they are completely unteachable.  It is almost comical to watch.  But, those unwilling to surrender to God will say and do anything to keep from facing the truth. They become surly and mean when confronted with the truth—and often persecute and demean the very people that could offer them answers to improve their self-destructive lives.

By contrast, those that seek God and his wisdom actually appreciate accountability and teaching.  They love to hear the truth and look for ways to apply it to their lives.  It is not that they are perfect—far from it…But, they realize that becoming like God is a process and that process yields life and fulfillment. They listen to great teaching.  They humbly consider kind rebuke and encouragement. Mostly, they work to surrender each part of their lives to God and allow him to lead them.  Those people, can endure any trial, mainly, because they have learned they are not enduring it alone.

God Bless You

Whoever corrects a mocker invites insults;     whoever rebukes the wicked incurs abuse. Do not rebuke mockers or they will hate you;     rebuke the wise and they will love you. Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still;     teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.

10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,     and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. 11 For through wisdom your days will be many,     and years will be added to your life. 12 If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you;     if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer
