What Wisdom Sounds Like–Proverbs 8 Part 1

What does Wisdom sound like? In the chaos of Solomon’s time and in the chaos of today’s culture, Wisdom calls out to everyone–seek and join me.  But, for one to find wisdom, one has to tune out the noise of the world.  The noises that seem to fill our air contain human knowledge, vitriol bitterness, passionate protest and common language and perversity. Paul, in 1 Corinthians, probably said it best, “The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. 15 The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, 16 for, who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?’  But we have the mind of Christ.” I Corinthians 2:14-16
To Hear Wisdom’s Call, one must be spiritually reborn. When we are reborn, we become new creatures , ambassadors of God. As Christ’s ambassadors, we speak his language.  We understand his culture and we long to represent his interests and carry his national pride.  We, therefore, tune out the droning of life–its sarcasm, its bitterness, its total fascination with self and its desire to possess everything at all costs. Instead we listen for wisdom’s voice follow her lead and become like the Lord–“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me!  The life I now live in the flesh , I live by faith in the son of God–who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20
That person can hear, receive and understand wisdom’s call.  That person guards her words–as if they were the crown jewels of England!
God Bless You
Does not wisdom call out?
    Does not understanding raise her voice?
At the highest point along the way,
    where the paths meet, she takes her stand;
beside the gate leading into the city,
    at the entrance, she cries aloud:
“To you, O people, I call out;
    I raise my voice to all mankind.
You who are simple, gain prudence;
    you who are foolish, set your hearts on it.
Listen, for I have trustworthy things to say;
    I open my lips to speak what is right.
My mouth speaks what is true,
    for my lips detest wickedness.
All the words of my mouth are just;
    none of them is crooked or perverse.
To the discerning all of them are right;
    they are upright to those who have found knowledge.
10 Choose my instruction instead of silver,
    knowledge rather than choice gold,
11 for wisdom is more precious than rubies,
    and nothing you desire can compare with her.
