Living a disciplined Life is the best tool to keep one from making life altering and terrible decisions. Solomon’s focus today is filling your life with God’s word and with God’s teaching. The question one should ask is when you are sitting and thinking idly about life where does your mind wander. Is it filled with thoughts that honor God or concern him. If we spend time with him each day, we find his thoughts and teachings occupy our idle thoughts. Otherwise we dream of stuff, of entertainment or of other worldly concerns that pull us away from God and toward sin.
In Solomon’s world—he is centered on an adulteress woman; but in our world we can substitute materialism, jealousy, bitterness or any number of other sins. The critical point is that your mind will drift somewhere. Studying God’s word praying each day all will bring your focus on things eternal and fill your heart with peace and purpose. Like friends and family, you must become intimate with God and his word—then you will know him and become like him.
God Bless You
My son, keep my words
and store up my commands within you.
2 Keep my commands and you will live;
guard my teachings as the apple of your eye.
3 Bind them on your fingers;
write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,”
and to insight, “You are my relative.”
5 They will keep you from the adulterous woman,
from the wayward woman with her seductive words.,
