God’s Plans are Best and Complete-Joshua 2

Often men’s greatest fears are either unfounded or directed by God himself.  In the land of Canaan, the land teeming with giants…, God had been working for a generation to prepare the Canaanites for their removal from the land.  So, when Joshua sent in the spies to scout Jericho, the spies learned first what Joshua had already known for forty years—God would precede Israel and make their way clear to claim their inheritance.

Still, it was quite useful to receive confirmation from Rahab, the prostitute. No other person in Jericho would have been prepared to receive the spies or to protect and prepare them for their entry into Canaan.  What’s more, this particular prostitute was to play an even bigger role in the salvation of Israel.  This prostitute later became David’s (That’s right King David’s) Great, Great Grandmother!

If we can grasp the detail with which God prepares his plan for the lives of his chosen, it is much easier to trust him with our future and the timing of our future.  It was no accident that the spies ended up at Rahab’s home. It was not an accident for the spies; and it was not an accident for Rahab. More importantly, God used Rahab–despite her choices of the past and despite the uncertainty of her future.  She was uniquely equipped to begin the retaking of Israel.  We cannot fully absorb the mind or plans of God, but, we can learn to trust him and follow his lead—clinging to thousands of years of proof that he knows us and he knows what he is doing. (Romans 8:28)

 God Bless You

Before the spies lay down for the night, she[Rahab] went up on the roof and said to them, “I know that the Lord has given you this land and that a great fear of you has fallen on us, so that all who live in this country are melting in fear because of you. 10 We have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea[a] for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to Sihon and Og, the two kings of the Amorites east of the Jordan, whom you completely destroyed.[b] 11 When we heard of it, our hearts melted in fear and everyone’s courage failed because of you, for the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below
