Nobody ever claimed that the Christian life would be easy. Since His ascension, Jesus has used His apostles, preachers and the body of Christ—the church, to remind us that this journey is not easy. But once you become a part of this family of God, the best way to live is by being a living sacrifice. So what does that mean??
Abraham gave the best picture—he had a great life in Haran– family, comfort and wealth. But then God called him to go to Canaan, leaving his comfortable life and simply trusting God for what was ahead.
In response, Abraham laid all he had on the altar and set out on a life and world changing journey. He left family, wealth and a literal roof over his head to set out for the land of Canaan. Later, he followed God even though no heir appeared until he was a hundred years old. Finally, he literally bound his son, Isaac and laid him on an alter raising the knife to offer him to God!
We have to be willing live each day—not as the masters of our own destiny, but, as the bond servant to the greatest Lord and Master in the universe. Our families, our careers and our very lives are laid daily before him to use as he sees fit. What we find—is that, like Abraham, God will not only return what we have presented to him—BUT, he will bless and use our lives to change the world around us—not much of a sacrifice, when you think about it!
God Bless You
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
