God never intended his plan to be complex. No father intentionally withholds life from the ones that he loves. Thousands of years of religion had taken a very simple concept of God reaching out to men and transformed it into several systems of rules and traditions that sent men on a quest to reach God. Paul, as he was explaining the core of Christianity to the Romans, stripped it to the core—Confess that Jesus is Lord and Believe that God has raised him from the Dead…THAT’S IT!
While simple, giving your life to Christ is by no means easy. Men’s natural instinct is to control their own destinies, set their own rules and protect their own interests. Man’s nature runs counter to the submission to God’s Lordship. Men want the benefit of God’s wisdom and leadership—as long as they can still control the outcome. Note—the verse does say confess that he is LORD—boss, the big guy, leader…one in charge! God has not, does not nor will not ever share the role of Lord with us. Why should he? If one believes God has raised Jesus from the dead—we should gladly allow our redeemer and savior to lead us to the place he has prepared for those he has loved and chosen.
In our lives, we still struggle with the very concepts of true faith and surrender. If we could ever truly grasp that God’s leadership is for our very life and benefit, then we would gladly surrender and trust the one who sacrificed everything to provide a path back for us. God is true, truthful and deeply in love with us, his children. It is so simple…Trust and obey!
God Bless You
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”
For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,
for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
