Signs–Exodus 4 Part 1

Moses was thorough. He was being asked to return to the very land from which he escaped to free his people. The people that saw him murder an Egyptian and turned against him. He successfully escaped and built a life.

Now God was sending him back. Moses was skeptical to say the least. but, God was ready. He gave Moses a number of signs to remind him of God’s presence.

The signs were incontrovertible, or at least they were for a man of faith. Moses could see and not doubt that God would do the work to free Israel.

Still, for ones without faith, signs would be of little use. No matter the sign, one more would be needed. God knew that, but still he was preparing his ambassador.

In our lives, little has changed. God does miracles every day that, if we are aware, remind us of his plan and his faithfulness. Still, if we are unwilling to see them, there are never enough signs to convince or encourage us. Clearly, there are not enough signs to convince the world.

When we trust and follow him, we no longer need signs to believe. Amazingly, that is when we begin to see his hand and plan everywhere.

God was and remains obvious. He is not hiding from the world or his chosen. The world simply refuses to see and believe the signs he sets in front of them. Sadly, their blindness and skepticism will be their demise.

Walk by faith, and the signs will grow more obvious each day as we walk with him.

God Bless You

Then the Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?”“A staff,” he replied.

The Lord said, “Throw it on the ground.”Moses threw it on the ground and it became a snake, and he ran from it.

Then the Lord said to him, “Reach out your hand and take it by the tail.” So Moses reached out and took hold of the snake and it turned back into a staff in his hand.

Then the Lord said, “Put your hand inside your cloak.” So Moses put his hand into his cloak, and when he took it out, the skin was leprous—it had become as white as snow.

“Now put it back into your cloak,” he said. So Moses put his hand back into his cloak, and when he took it out, it was restored, like the rest of his flesh.

But if they do not believe these two signs or listen to you, take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground. The water you take from the river will become blood on the ground.”
