The Vine–John 15 Part 1

The source of life and nutrition.  The vine is the anchor, the irrigation system the food source and the home for all the growth of a plant.  The vine itself seems non descript, but, in truth, it is a plant’s core. When branches get separated from the vine they die.  When they no longer accept nutrition, they die.  Sadly when they have fruit growing on them, their death also kills the  attached fruit.

In a word, Jesus is the vine.  We are the branches.  He provides a home, safety, nutrition and anchor of our lives. When we follow him, there is a natural progression of our lives growing and impacting the lives of others.  When we choose to walk independently of him, we fail to produce any fruit and we begin to spiritually starve and dehydrate.  That is why the Lord entreats us to stay connected—we are to seek and follow Him and allow Him to prune, feed and water us–so that we can produce the fruit of His spirit and show others how life can be.

God Bless You

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.

He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.

You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.

Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
