The Gift of the Holy Spirit–John 14 Final

When you look at Jesus life and sacrifice, it is easy to grasp the redemption we receive for his death.  It is also a great source of hope to know that as he rose from the dead and will live forever, so also will we as his chosen children.  But, in addition to those amazing truths, Jesus also left us a guide and advocate to face the struggles of this amazing journey—the Holy Spirit. His spirit is a placeholder for us to remind us that we are redeemed. In addition, his spirit is an advocate, a guide, a source of strength in the difficulties we face in life and a source of truth in a culture of lies.

In our daily walk, it is critical that we spend time in prayer and in the word—so that we can be aligned with God and his plan for our lives. It is also critical that we become sensitive to the leading of his spirit.  That leading allows us to follow him more closely and hear him more clearly.  That sensitivity also provides opportunities for us to minister, to understand and to remain hopeful in difficult days. His spirit is a gift, do not ignore or discount the value of such a great advocate and guide.

God Bless You

“If you love me, keep my commands.

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—

the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”

But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
