When Joseph revealed his identity to his brothers they were terror stricken. The years of deceit, the burden of guilt and the devastation to their father all came rushing in at once. Then, the entire game changed. Now it was time for the completion of the restoration of Joseph. It was not simply enough that Joseph’s suffering ended, God now would complete his prophecy and have the entire family brought to Egypt and His Father back to life. Jacob had suffered greatly at the loss of his son—Now the joy of his return, literally brought Jacob (Israel) back to life. It was a party in Egypt like none other.
In our lives, we do encounter trials and tests that make life a continuing struggle. But every now and again, as we follow, there is also a game changer in our lives. When they occur, we are often at a loss on how to handle them. The answer is to celebrate and enjoy God’s blessings when they occur. There is no need to become self assured or cocky, but, we are to rejoice with those who rejoice. It is great to be blessed and greater still to celebrate the blessing. Joseph, Pharaoh and Israel had a lot to celebrate—and they did. When we have the opportunity to do the same—by golly, we should.
