The Brothers had no idea what was about to hit them. Good meal, great trade with the Egyptian Governor and everyone on their way back home–finally things were turning around. So they thought. Joseph’s Brothers were about to get the shock of their lives. After a lifetime of playing with the lives of others, now the brothers were going to be stretched to the very edge of their lives. They did not see it coming, nor were they going to believe what was to happen next.
Welcome to our lives–we all face various trials and tests in our lives. Some help us to be more like Christ; while others simply happen because life is hard. whatever the reason, we can never get comfortable that for some reason we are exempt from the trials of life. It simply is not so.
We have to be watchful and courageous. When we are, we can see the trials ahead or at least seek God when they hit. It is a matter of where our focus lies. Our focus must lie on Christ and the journey he has set before us. No matter the test, blessing or trial–if we seek him and him only, he will do the rest. While the tests come from places and in times we may never expect, God is with us and will always protect us and provide–if we allow him to.
God Bless You
Now Joseph gave these instructions to the steward of his house: “Fill the men’s sacks with as much food as they can carry, and put each man’s silver in the mouth of his sack. 2 Then put my cup, the silver one, in the mouth of the youngest one’s sack, along with the silver for his grain.” And he did as Joseph said.
3 As morning dawned, the men were sent on their way with their donkeys. 4 They had not gone far from the city when Joseph said to his steward, “Go after those men at once, and when you catch up with them, say to them, ‘Why have you repaid good with evil? 5 Isn’t this the cup my master drinks from and also uses for divination? This is a wicked thing you have done.’”
6 When he caught up with them, he repeated these words to them. 7 But they said to him, “Why does my lord say such things? Far be it from your servants to do anything like that! 8 We even brought back to you from the land of Canaan the silver we found inside the mouths of our sacks. So why would we steal silver or gold from your master’s house? 9 If any of your servants is found to have it, he will die; and the rest of us will become my lord’s slaves
