Hospitality the Gift of Life–Genesis 18 part 1

We are in the business of being ambassadors.  We never know with whom we will cross paths or why they have entered our lives. We can see, however, that when God has put folks in our lives, it was our duty to treat them like VIPS.  Abraham had visitors.  He knew they were from God.  He immediately treated them as the dignitaries he knew them to be.  He welcomed them, met their immediate needs and then treated them with dignity and hospitality–that is our job too.

Our culture has lost the art of making folks feel welcome.  Technology and frantic schedules have caused us to all but eliminate the chance to entertain angels unaware.  We, as Christ’s ambassadors are called to be different.  We still are to treat those that cross our paths with the same level of urgency and hospitality that Abraham did.  It is a messy business and is often thankless, but, one never knows when they will change the life of person by simply showing kindness and  love. Remember, God has a plan, trust and follow it– and like Abraham, you will have opportunities to entertain angels.

God Bless You

The Lord appeared to Abraham near the great trees of Mamre while he was sitting at the entrance to his tent in the heat of the day. Abraham looked up and saw three men standing nearby. When he saw them, he hurried from the entrance of his tent to meet them and bowed low to the ground.

He said, “If I have found favor in your eyes, my lord,[a] do not pass your servant by. Let a little water be brought, and then you may all wash your feet and rest under this tree. Let me get you something to eat, so you can be refreshed and then go on your way—now that you have come to your servant.”

“Very well,” they answered, “do as you say.”
