I loved the Rocky movies.  The best part of each one is the point where he prepares for the big fight. In all the movies that training was focused on the basics and tailored to the particular fighter he faced. In almost every show he used “old fashioned” methods that gave him the right strength and tactics to face his opponent.  In Hebrews, the author is reminding us that we too are training for the main event–Eternity.

We, like Rocky, have to train using the “Old Fashioned” methods of Bible Study, prayer and fellowship with other believers. We have to remain pure and seek him with all that is within us.  When we do, we become mighty warriors in him and are ready to face our opponent.  We cannot cut corners, we cannot follow half-heartedly.  We have to train as if our lives depended on it…because they do.
