Running Free–Hebrews 12 Part 1

Everyone has baggage.  Events in our lives shape and mold us into the individuals that we are.  The Bible is full of stories of individuals whose lives were molded, shaped and used by God.  One of the amazing things about that is that when the people God used were focused on him, their particular baggage no longer held them down.  Their faith freed them from the very things that hindered them before.  Abraham’s dependence on his dad, his tight grasp on Isaac his fear of dying without an heir were all released by faith.  Hebrews 11 are all examples of folk whose faith freed them from the baggage they were carrying.
It is the same with us.  God does not require that we come to him free of baggage.  He simply offers us the opportunity to trust him to carry our burden and allows us to walk free of it and do amazing things in his power and freedom.  We do not become perfect–we simply become free.  In that freedom, we then fix our eyes on Jesus and run with abandon the race he has laid out.  As we do, we will experience joy and peace like none other.  It will not be easy, but, it will be awesome.  Trust the Lord and be a free runner!
God Bless You
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
