The world we live in is winding down. On every front, the values we historically held dear are now discarded. As a result, the order and peace that used to typify our culture is now chaos. Less than one hundred years ago—our nation was reminded of this by the great depression. My parents lived through that traumatic time and the result was that they valued others and took nothing for granted. Now, a couple of generations later, the world has shown it neither values life or considers anything but self protection as important.
We, as the Church, are called to be different. That difference must be so stark that it shakes the very core of the culture. Like our Lord, we are to be selfless, we are to Love God and others. We are to be grateful for what he has provided—whether little or much. We have to hold on loosely to this world and its trappings—Just like a tourist passing through. We can enjoy our journey, BUT, we have to remember—THIS IS NOT OUR HOME. When we free ourselves from the world’s grip, we can make a difference in other’s lives. If we do not, we become as those we are saddened by. Help me Lord to remember in these last days—I am simply passing through.
God Bless You
But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7 always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these teachers oppose the truth. They are men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. 9 But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.
