I samuel 8 part 2–Beware for What You Wish…

When you place your desires over common sense, nothing good can ever come from it.  The Israelites were slaves for 400 years.  Then God freed them.  He gave them the best lands in the Middle East, but they were afraid to claim it. He led them as nomads for 40 years, providing the very food they ate, the daily direction and schedule and the understanding of who he was and who they were as his chosen people.  He led the into the promised land and helped them take it as their own. He continued to bless them as they humbly followed him.  Then, they decided they needed a king just like everyone else.  He then patiently told them the cost of serving a king rather than serving him, they simply did not care.

In our lives, we are often faced with similar choices.  When, in those choices, we ignore God and do what we want, the repercussions can be devastating. We lose our freedom, our blessing and our protection from the Lord.  We, like everyone else, become mired in the trappings of life and the lies of the world.  We willingly give away the gifts God has given us. Once we choose in earnest to follow anyone other than God our lives will crumble.  Again—If we trust in the Lord with all our hearts, lean not on our own understanding, acknowledge him in all our ways, then he will make our paths straight.  Proverbs 3:5-6

Help me, Lord to follow you and you only.

God Bless You

10 Samuel told all the words of the Lord to the people who were asking him for a king. 11 He said, “This is what the king who will reign over you will claim as his rights: He will take your sons and make them serve with his chariots and horses, and they will run in front of his chariots. 12 Some he will assign to be commanders of thousands and commanders of fifties, and others to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and still others to make weapons of war and equipment for his chariots. 13 He will take your daughters to be perfumers and cooks and bakers. 14 He will take the best of your fields and vineyards and olive groves and give them to his attendants. 15 He will take a tenth of your grain and of your vintage and give it to his officials and attendants. 16 Your male and female servants and the best of your cattle[c] and donkeys he will take for his own use. 17 He will take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves will become his slaves. 18 When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, but the Lord will not answer you in that day.”

19 But the people refused to listen to Samuel. “No!” they said. “We want a king over us. 20 Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us and fight our battles.”

This is an amazing Journey. I hope you will hear from the Lord, as you seek Him with your heart. Matthew 6:33
