Please the Father–Genesis 37 part 1

The Story of Joseph is a great illustration of how God uses trials to prepare us and the world for his plan.  Joseph was a young man, he did what was right and he honored his father.  His honesty and devotion to God and his Dad made his brothers hate him.  Joseph could not have pleased his brothers no matter how he behaved, or who he followed.  He did not try to win their favor, he did not try to be like them.  He simply obeyed God and his dad.

When we walk with the Lord, we need to have the same attitude.  We will never please the world. If we try to emulate the world, we will only lose our identity with our heavenly father.  He is the only one we truly have to please, and, he is the only one that will truly be pleased to see us free.  The world hates him and us.  The world only wants us to be destroyed.  We have to honor God despite what the world thinks or does.  God calls us in 2nd Corinthians to be his ambassadors—to be in the world, but not a part of it.  Help me, Lord to honor your desire to be in the world, but not a part of it.

God Bless You

5 Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more. 6 He said to them, “Listen to this dream I had: 7 We were binding sheaves of grain out in the field when suddenly my sheaf rose and stood upright, while your sheaves gathered around mine and bowed down to it.”

8 His brothers said to him, “Do you intend to reign over us? Will you actually rule us?” And they hated him all the more because of his dream and what he had said.

9 Then he had another dream, and he told it to his brothers. “Listen,” he said, “I had another dream, and this time the sun and moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me.”

10 When he told his father as well as his brothers, his father rebuked him and said, “What is this dream you had? Will your mother and I and your brothers actually come and bow down to the ground before you?” 11 His brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept the matter in mind.
